An extreme heat watch has been issued for the Willamette Valley for Aug. 10 and 11 as high temperatures could range from 95 to 105 on both days.
If the forecast holds, it would be the first time the Willamette Valley has seen temperatures north of 100 this summer, which is a marked contrast to the last five summers, which have frequently been among the hottest on record.
There is a 60-75% chance of temperatures at or above 100 degrees on Aug. 10 and a 75-80% chance of temperatures cracking 100 on Aug. 11.
There is also a smaller but still relevant chance temperatures could reach 105 to 110 degrees, said meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Portland.
