Heat sticks around through this weekend with spotty afternoon rain and storms. Temperatures cool off slightly early next week as rain chances continues.

More record and near-record heat has returned to New Mexico Friday afternoon. Once again a few spotty showers and storms are popping up over the mountains of western, northern, and central New Mexico. These storms are moving east and aren't lasting long once they move off the higher elevations. However, they could still bring some light rain and gusty winds along with a threat of lightning. These storms will end later tonight after sunset. Cool overnight lows will return to western and northern New Mexico while the rest of the state will stay warm.
