LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - After starting Saturday with high humidity and warm temperatures, sunshine will help warm the air through lunchtime before summer pop-up storms bring cooling relief. Highs reach the mid 90s this afternoon. Tonight, temperatures drop into the 70s with sticky air and clear skies. Sunday will see similar weather with hot afternoon temperatures and pop-up storms.

In the tropics, there are two areas of interest to monitor. The first is a tropical wave in the central Atlantic. It will head to open waters and not be a threat to land. The second tropical wave is just exiting the African coast. For now, it has a long journey ahead of it as it works westward through the Atlantic. Models are very bullish on this system developing in the days ahead, but we have plenty of time
