Friday was the warmest day in August so far, but it will not hold the top spot for too much longer. High temperatures will rise into the upper 80s this afternoon with more sunshine and patchy clouds. Skies will remain clear overnight with lows in the 60s.

High temperatures will continue to ramp up on Sunday. After a seasonable start to the morning, temperatures will surge to around 90 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The heat will stick around for Monday and Tuesday, with highs again expected to be above 90 degrees. Three consecutive 90-degree days would make that an official heat wave here in the valley.
