Avon Lake Public Library (ALPL) Director William Rutger is taking his talents back to Sandusky as he was recently named the new executive director for the Sandusky Library.

A native of the Sandusky area, Rutger began his career as a student page at the Sandusky Library.

Rutger graduated from St. Mary Central Catholic High School in Sandusky and went on to attend Bowling Green State University. He worked at libraries in Michigan and Ohio (Ashland) before coming to Avon Lake in 2017 .

Rutger begins his new position Sept. 15.

Sunflowers coming: Sunflower seeds at Maria’s Field of Hope were recently planted for a second year at the new location near Interstate 90 off Jaycox Road at Middleton Road.

The goal is for the sunflowers to be in full bloom for Childhood C
