GREENVILLE, S.C. —

A man in Greenville County, South Carolina, is facing several felony drug charges after deputies say he swallowed a large quantity of fentanyl during a traffic stop.

According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy made a lawful traffic stop after an incorrect license plate was seen on a vehicle near Reid School Road and Happy Corners Road in Taylors.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Brian Jenkins.

Deputies say while trying to get away from deputies, Jenkins swallowed several ounces of fentanyl and continued to resist arrest.

Once deputies were able to place Jenkins in custody, he became unresponsive.

Deputies say they administered Narcan until emergency medical services took him to the hospital.
