WACO, Texas (KWTX) - 65-year-old Blake Harrell is in the ICU after a mountain biking accident in Dallas, Texas shattered part of his spinal cord.

The accident happened while Blake and his wife, Michelle Harrell, were biking at Boulder Park in Dallas, Texas on Friday. Blake crashed his bike after riding it over a roller.

“He landed on the top right of his head,” Michelle said. “He landed straight on it and it cracked his helmet.”

Blake was taken to a Dallas, Texas ICU. He was put on a ventilator and underwent surgery.

“He told me before they intubated him that he was scared,” Michelle said. “And that’s hard to hear from your husband because your husband is your protector and your rock.”

Michelle said while her husband is intubated, they have to communicate with their eyes.
