In the wake of Florida’s 2025 legislative session, advocates and concerned citizens assembled at Charles Hadley Park in Liberty City on Saturday to learn about the impact of recent laws.

Hosted by the Equal Ground Education Fund, a Black-led voting rights organization aiming to boost civic engagement, the forum provided an overview of some of the bills that were presented in both the state House and Senate this year, as well as what sides members of the Florida Legislature landed.

“A lot of people see things that are happening that they disagree with, but we want folks to know that they're not powerless, that they have the opportunity to get engaged, to talk to their legislators, to demand a better community,” said Equal Ground Executive Director Genesis Robinson.
