HOLLAND, Michigan — Onlookers saw a plume of black smoke on Lake Macatawa as a boat caught fire Tuesday evening.
The Park Township Fire Department got a call about a boat on fire near 1847 South Shore Drive. There, firefighters discovered a 17-foot inflatable boat equipped with an outboard motor in flames.
The boat was out of the water and secured on a boat lift over Lake Macatawa. Firefighters deployed 300 feet of fire hose to suppress the fire.
Crews were able to get the flames under control. No one was injured, officials say.
First responders confirmed there were no apparent pollution concerns. The boat's fuel tank remained intact and no fuel leaks were detected.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Park Township Fire Department.
