COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Interstate 71 northbound ramp to Interstate 270 westbound closed Wednesday morning after a “concrete failure” on the ramp bridge, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Crews are working Wednesday to remove damaged portions of the bridge deck. ODOT says they will also be forming and pouring concrete for the repairs.
To give time for the concrete to cure, the ramp will be closed for the remainder of Wednesday, but is expected to reopen on Thursday, Aug. 14.
The exact time of reopening depends on when the concrete has cured to sufficient strength, ODOT said in a statement.
For drivers affected by the ramp closure, ODOT provided the following detour options:
I-71 NB to I-270 EB to Cleveland Ave. to I-270 WB (north of downtown)
I-71 NB to Interstate 6
