One of the Cincinnati Reds’ best starting pitchers will return to the mound Wednesday night after missing more than two months due to a groin injury.
Hunter Greene, 26, will start for the Reds against the Philadelphia Phillies at Great American Ball Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5:10 p.m. Advertisement
Greene carries a 2.72 ERA and 73 strikeouts into Wednesday’s game after making 11 starts earlier this season.
After throwing five innings against the Milwaukee Brewers on June 3, Greene was diagnosed with a strained right groin .
The Reds’ Opening Day starter, Greene is widely regarded as one of the best pitchers in baseball when healthy.
In three rehab starts for Triple-A Louisville, Greene allowed 11 runs in 11 innings. He struck out 20 and walked four hitters.
