FAIRFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) - What happened to the Franklin County osprey platform? Several WCAX viewers, including Fairfield resident Peggy Paradee, wanted to know. Reporter Ike Bendavid went looking for answers.

“I really enjoy the ospreys. I watch for them to return every April. And then I watch for the babies to come, and then I watch for them to depart. And I know falls coming when they leave,” said Fairfield resident Peggy Paradee.

The swamp along Route 36 is a common site to see the raptors, but the platform where a nest sat for years is now empty. “When I saw that it was gone, I was like, Oh my goodness,” Paradee said.

The platform sits above utility poles maintained by the Vermont Electric Co-op. Operations manager Tucker Williams says it’s one of many statewide around the state that
