BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Thursday is the 90th anniversary of Social Security, and AARP North Dakota is doing everything they can to make it special.
Social Security is the primary source of income for 57,000 North Dakotans. Without Social Security, nearly 40% of people 65 or older in the state would live in poverty. Additionally, Social Security contributes $3 billion into the state’s economy every year.
AARP says that they are proud of its progress.
“Right now, we’re taking the 90th anniversary as a moment in time to celebrate the fact that it’s been here for 90 years, but now doubling down on our efforts to start the conversation today to find real bipartisan solutions for the future, so that Social Security can continue to be the economic bedrock of retirement for Americans for genera
