LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A woman accused of driving through a group of pedestrians, killing two and injuring 14 others, has pleaded no contest to multiple felony charges.

Authorities say 36-year-old Ashley Monroe was intoxicated when she plowed her vehicle into a family walking along Wacousta Road in Clinton County in May 2024.

The group was on their way to their grandmother’s house when the crash occurred.

According to police, Monroe fled the scene following the collision.

Monroe was charged with 15 felony counts, including two counts of operating under the influence causing death and two counts of second-degree murder.

Her no-contest plea, entered on Wednesday, means she is not admitting guilt but will accept sentencing as if convicted.
