(KFVS) - The Heartland will dry out and heat up over the next few days.

Brian Alworth says it looks like we’re in for a bit of a heat wave from the weekend into early next week.

In the shorter term, there may still be an isolated shower or storm around this afternoon, but chances will be lower than the last few days.

Highs today will be mainly in the low 90s, with dew points near 70.

Some patchy fog is likely again Friday morning, then Friday will be mainly sunny and a bit hotter with highs of about 90 to 95.

The weekend into early next week will feature an upper ridge developing right over the Mississip
