HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings commuters should be cautious this week at a busy intersection on the east side of town.
The City of Hastings said Tuesday that contractors from Commonwealth Electric Co. will begin replacing a traffic light at the intersection of Highway 6 and Showboat Road on Wednesday morning. The work was expected to be completed by the end of the day Friday.
The city consulted with the Southern Public Power District after a 34.5 kilovolt transmission line was deemed close to the traffic signal pole at the northeastern corner of the intersection. The Nebraska Department of Transportation then decided that the line cannot be taken out of service, and a load study is needed.
The repair is now slated to be finished during the week of August 18.
