LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A man convicted for sexually assaulting a young girl over the course of a decade now faces life in prison.

38-year-old Franwil Castillo was found guilty of first-degree sexual assault of a child, possession of child pornography, generation of child pornography and two other sex-related felonies.

He faces 24 years to life in prison at his sentencing on Sept. 10.

A 17-year-old girl spoke with an officer at the Lincoln Police Department on April 11, 2024 to make a report. She told the officer that she’d been sexually assaulted by Castillo, according to an arrest affidavit.

Investigators later forensically interviewed the girl, leading them to think Castillo had been assaulting the girl since she was 7 years old.
