The first two weeks at the long-awaited Long John Silver’s at 4406 Bell in Amarillo held some surprises — not just for customers, but for owners and managers, too.
According to General Manager Luis Martinez, total sales for the first day, Aug. 1 , was a whopping $32,000 — and the second day slightly more. “We have maintained at least $25,000 daily, even on our slow days,” he said.
“We never ran out of anything either,” he said, beaming. “We had about a two month’s supply stocked, but we did have to get more deliveries and hotshot some.”
One of the surprises was that they sold more chicken than fish, which no one expected.
“We order about 4-5 cases a truck,” he said while unloading some more from their freezer. Martinez said people were loving the crunchies and hush puppies too, but s
