APEX, N.C. (WTVD) -- Apex Police Department (APD) is searching for a wanted man near Lufkin Road and East Williams.

The man ran away from police in the area, prompting a significant law enforcement presence, including drones and K-9 units.

Officers were attempting to arrest the man for multiple warrants associated with sex offenses.

APD said there is no known risk to the public at this time, but avoid this area if possible.

He is believed to be in a wooded area where police are conducting their search.
