MIDDLEBURG, Pa. — Inside the Walking Free Clubhouse in Middleburg, founder Lorie Kurrell is looking over some of the meeting spaces available to people visiting.

The clubhouse opened in January and serves as a recovery resource center. Kurrell says the idea for this came from her own experience as a recovering addict. She is originally from Philadelphia, and there were clubhouses in the city she would visit that are safe spaces for those in recovery.

"When I came to Snyder County as a drug and alcohol counselor, I heard the need "there's no place to go, there's not enough meetings, there's northing to do," and so I thought in the back of my head, years ago, we need a clubhouse in this area," said Lorie Kurrell, Walking Free Clubhouse founder.
