WINFIELD, Pa. — At Northhill Orchard and Supply in Snyder County , owner Ephraim King is looking over his pear trees. Pear season is here, and King is getting ready to harvest them. He says this year, the pear crop is looking good.

"It looks really good, maybe a little bit on the small side, but there's a lot of pears here, so I'm excited," said Ephraim King, Northhill Orchard and Supply Owner.

King says this spring there was a lot of rain, and then it got dry. He says you need rain for the fruit to size up because it needs energy coming from the roots up into the tree. King says there's one variety of pear that people want when they come to the orchard.

"The Bartletts probably have that flavor that people want. It's by far the most popular. Everyone comes here and says, "Do you have
