JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — The Jeffersonville man accused of decapitating his father plans to use an insanity defense, according to new court documents.

When Bryce Winnecke entered a Clark County Courtroom for the first time on Tuesday, he had a bloody knot on his forehead. Clark County Jail officials said it was a self-inflicted wound. That's what delayed his initial court appearance on Monday.

Winnecke, 33, is charged with murder and abuse of a corpse after his father's body was found inside his home on Summerlin Place last Friday.

Ahead of Tuesday's hearing, Winnecke's defense filed several motions including notices of their plans to use an insanity defense or a defense of mental disease or defect.

His attorneys have also requested multiple psychiatric evaluations to determine Winneck
