Emmerdale viewers submitted over 200 complaints to Ofcom last week following an episode which saw Vinny being ferociously attacked. The TV regulator revealed that the scene from the ITV soap was complained about 279 times during last Tuesday's broadcast. ‌

The episode saw Vinny fall victim to a homophobic attack from a man named Mike, whom he had met up after they started speaking on a dating site. ‌

However, the moment seemingly did not go down well with Emmerdale fans. A spokesperson from Ofcom said: "Complaints objected to violent and sexual content before the watershed." ‌
