Khalil Bryan, an Orleans Parish jail inmate who was mistakenly released from the lockup in July, was arrested in Texas Wednesday morning, authorities confirmed.

Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson said a Crimestoppers tip led to his arrest.

"The people of New Orleans deserve a secure and accountable jail system," Huston said. "While this erroneous release happened due to human failure, we have held those responsible accountable and we have taken responsibility and put safeguards in place."

Bryan, 30, will be returned to New Orleans to face his charges, Hutson said. U.S. Marshals confirmed they were involved in finding and apprehending Bryan, 30, in the Houston area. Crimestoppers officials said he was arrested Wednesday morning.
