SUDBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - You can try your luck on the water during Vermont’s free Mentored Fishing Weekend . It’s a new opportunity designed for adults who want to start fishing but need a little guidance.
“A lot of people don’t like fishing, but I have yet to meet one that doesn’t like to catch a fish. So, we should take that opportunity to try to, you know, make that happen for someone,” said Roy Gangloff of West Dummerston.
Gangloff has fished throughout Vermont since he was a kid, and now he’s hoping to share the secrets and skills during the free Mentored Fishing Weekend.
Unlicensed anglers can fish for free if they join those who are licensed over Labor Day weekend. It’s part of Vermont Fish and Wildlife’s plan to get more people into the sport.
