BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. —

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro issued a statement Saturday hours after a school bus carrying Aliquippa Jr. High School football players crashed in Beaver County.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Shapiro said he spoke with the City of Aliquippa mayor and is sending his thoughts and prayers to those impacted.

"I’ve spoken with Mayor Walker and offered my Administration’s full support as local officials respond to this crash and treat the injured," Shapiro said in the post. "Football brings the Aliquippa community together — and I know those who prepared to cheer on their team today are already stepping in to care for their neighbors and check in
