The state – your tax dollars at work – is considering whether to build a proposed Interstate 73 from Toledo , in large part via U.S. 23 (Delaware County’s Commuters’ Nightmare), then through Columbus, to Lawrence County’s Chesapeake, across from Huntington, West Virginia – and then on to Myrtle Beach.
That’s a supremely foolish idea. The state doesn’t need another way for Sunbelt states to lure more Ohioans south. Our General Assembly is already doing a crackerjack job of that.
Ohio already chokes on car and truck traffic and its pollution, din and mayhem. As it is, Columbus has long needed what’d be an Outer-Outerbelt; the original (Interstate 270) is a death trap when it isn’t a parking lot, like the Columbus-Delaware stretch of U.S. 23.
