ESSEX TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) -A woman is recovering after being shot by her husband early Sunday morning.

In a social media post , the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the 7000 block of W. Mead Rd. for a report that a female had been shot by her husband.

The Sheriff’s office said that the woman was able to escape her home and make it to a neighboring residence after being shot to ask for help.

Before arriving at the scene, deputies were able to locate the woman and helped render aid until paramedics arrived. She was later transported to a nearby hospital, where she is in critical condition.

After the woman arrived at the neighboring residence, it was reported that the husband had left the area in a vehicle before deputies arrived.
