LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Zoo is celebrating an exciting moment with the birth of the zoo's first-ever infant colobus monkey.
In a news release Tuesday, the zoo said 5-year-old female Ate, pronounced "ah-tay," gave birth to a healthy baby early Sunday morning.
While the newborn's gender is still unknown, officials said both the mother and baby are thriving. The baby doesn't have a name yet either.
The baby's father, 12-year-old "Dr. Sheldon Cooper," along with other females Nali and Phyllis, are all being attentive and providing nurturing support, which the zoo said highlights colobus monkeys' impressive social structure.
