SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A student at a school in Springfield was searched on Tuesday, August 26, following reports of possession of a weapon.
According to a Pipkins Middle School news release, the school administration responded to a tip shared on social media of a student having a weapon.
The school says that the student was found with a loaded handgun and that they fully cooperated upon questioning.
The student did not make any threats at the school and said that they had no intention of using the weapon, the release says.
The juvenile is currently in custody awaiting potential criminal charges.
"I want to assure you that we have zero tolerance for weapons at school and every report of a weapon or other safety concern is fully investigated by our staff and school police," Principal Duane
