BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Two people from a day care in Blount County have been arrested, one charged with torturing a 1-year-old girl while the other was charged with not reporting it to the police.

Police arrested Christa Castleberry and Elizabeth Payne on Monday after a report had been made about a child who has been abused at the Blessings by Day day care in Cleveland. Castleberry was a worker at the day care, while Payne was the manager of the location.

According to court records, the child was abused Aug. 20 after Castleberry, 26, allegedly pushed her head into a cot four times, hurting her eye. Payne, 29, is charged with failing to report the victim's injury to police.
