FLOMATON, Ala. (WKRG) — The Flomaton race for District 4 was a close one. So close, it still hasn't been decided.
When the polls closed and ballots were counted, L. Kay Wagner had 43 votes, or 50.59% of the votes, and Tracy Owens had 42 votes, or 46.69% of the votes. At least 51% is needed to declare a winner.
According to the city clerk, one provisional ballot still has to be verified, and that ballot will determine the outcome of the race.
If the vote goes to Wagner, that will put her over the 50% mark, and the race will go to her. However, if Owens earns that vote, then the two will be tied, and with only two candidates in the race, a runoff is not an option.
