MACON, Ga. — The curtain is rising on a new chapter for one of Macon’s most storied landmarks .

County officials have selected Turner Construction Management LLC to oversee a $641,000 renovation project at the Piedmont Grand Opera House in downtown Macon, aiming to modernize key backstage areas while preserving the venue’s historic charm.

The project will focus on improving spaces for performers, including the renovation of three dressing rooms at stage level, the addition of an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant bathroom, and upgrades to below-stage dressing rooms, bathrooms and the green room.
