MACON, Ga. — Students and staff at two Bibb County campuses are safe after frightening false reports of active shooters Tuesday afternoon.

Just after 1:00 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call claiming there was an active shooter on the campus of Central Georgia Technical College in Macon.

Within minutes, deputies, Georgia State Patrol troopers, and other local law enforcement agencies responded , placing the school on lockdown and sweeping each building.

"Central Georgia Technical College is clear. Rutland High School is clear," Sgt. Christopher Williams with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said. "There was not an active shooter. There were not any injuries reported. Everybody is safe."
