Oakland Unified School District is on a tight timeline to find a new superintendent.
The board has said it hopes to land a new leader by April, and the first step is to find a search firm to helm the process. This week the district is expected to post a request for proposals , following approval at tonight’s meeting.
The RFP lays out the work the firm will carry out and the board’s intended timeline. The posting is expected to go up on Friday, Aug. 29, and the deadline for companies to submit a proposal will be Sept. 22. The board then plans to move quickly, saying it expects to select a firm by Sept. 30, so that the firm can begin work in October.
