CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (WSMV) - A nocturnal critter has been leaving its smell across certain Hopkinsville neighborhoods.

Neighbors on Circle Drive and Hillaire Drive say the animals have been roaming the area frequently in recent weeks, and the smell they leave behind—especially after it rains—is hard to miss.

“Oh, it’s horrible,” Terri Perry said. “Anytime it rains, the smell comes back.”

Residents have called Hopkinsville PD and the city multiple times over to report the sights and smells of what they’ve been dealing with.

“You can smell the aroma of our little friends that have been taking over our community,” HPD Deputy Chief Erik Pacheco said.

Multiple residents have reported repeated sightings, with Perry noting her grandson regularly counts the skunks passing through the yard.
