SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Wednesday was a big day for the South Bend Fire Department, as seven firefighters were promoted to captain.
After years of hard work and months of tests and interviews, the firefighters were pinned by family members.
One of the deserving new captains is Andrew Zwierzynski
He was an acting captain during a call this summer and saved a man who was drowning in the deep end of a pool.
“Put your head down, do your job and even the low guy can make a difference in this organization,” Capt. Zwierzynski says. “Every little thing helps. Whether it’s just cleaning the app floor to changing a sop, everyone makes a difference on this department. It’s not a title thing.”
Thanks for your dedication to the fire service and community... and congratulations!
