KING, N.C. — An employee at a Triad elementary school was arrested last week after police found a wooden block on campus with some concerning text written on it.

According to the King Police Department, the School Resource Officer at King Elementary School in Stokes County was alerted to a wooden block on campus with the following messages — "Sandy Hook Elementary" and "Shooter's Accomplice Block."

After finding the block, police say the SRO contacted school staff and that the school activated a shelter-in-place protocol. Police say an initial investigation revealed that the block "was used to wedge open an exterior door, which was found and labeled by a King Elementary employee.
