WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Waterbury police say they've recovered a dog allegedly struck by a man officers are now searching for.

Police said they became aware of a video circulating online which allegedly shows a man striking a black and white dog. The incident is now under investigation as animal abuse, they said.

On Monday, Waterbury Animal Control were able to successfully locate and recover the dachshund, which they say is receiving treatment for minor injuries.

Anyone with information regarding the male individual in the video striking the dog or any information on the dog is asked to contact Waterbury Animal Control at 203-574-6909.
