VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A multi-million dollar upgrade is in the works in Virginia Beach, as crews are tearing up some of the streets in the ViBe District near the Oceanfront as part of the last leg of a $43 million infrastructure project.
When this project is finished, it will connect the Virginia Beach Sports Center, the ViBe District and all the businesses here, and the Oceanfront — with the hope of making it a more walkable, safer neighborhood.
The infrastructure project that began in 2018 with 19th Street, moving south to now 17th Street and Virginia Beach Boulevard. The upgrades include nine-foot-wide sidewalks in some areas.
