BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Bridgeport has been without a hotel since the Holiday Inn downtown closed in 2022, but the city’s status of not having one will change within the next two years.
A new six-story hotel is being constructed at Steelpointe Harbor. The 142-room Residence Inn by Marriott is expected to be completed within 18 to 20 months.
A ceremony on Wednesday morning celebrated the start of the construction project. The True North Hotel Group, alongside RCI Group, officially broke ground.
The event was attended by Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, DECD Commissioner Daniel O’Keefe, Bridgeport Mayor Ganim, legislative officials, city and regional leaders and representatives from Marriot and KBE Construction.
