MEMPHIS, Tenn. - New information was released Wednesday of Memphis-Shelby County Schools' (MSCS) plan to close five schools within the district.
One part of the plan is to close Chickasaw Middle School and move the students into Westwood High. That would create a new 6-12 school. Frayser Corning Elementary would close, and its students would move into Whitney and Westside elementaries.

Georgian Hills would also close, shuffling some kids into Whitney and Hawkins Elementary.
Ida B. Wells Academy would close — only 84 students attend there.
Also, the district wants to close Lucy Elementary early and move students into Woodstock Middle School, creating a new K-8 school.
