PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police arrested a driver accused of hitting a patrol vehicle during one of two illegal street takeovers officers responded to over the weekend.
Around 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, multiple vehicles performed stunts near the Moda Center/Rose Quarter Transit Center while pedestrians ignited fireworks, blocking traffic and disrupting public transit service, Portland police said.
Police called in "additional resources," including from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. As police officers moved in to disperse the crowd, a driver hit a patrol vehicle after drifting around the intersection of Northeast Multnomah Street and Northeast Interstate Avenue, according to a police report.
