CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - A Richmond man is faces multiple charges after another man was found in a parking lot with stab wounds Tuesday morning.

Police say the suspect also drove away in the victim’s car in the incident, which happened around 5:45 a.m. in the 15700 block of Woods Edge Road.

“When police arrived, they found an adult male victim who had been stabbed multiple times in a parking lot,” Chesterfield Police said. “While leaving the scene in the victim’s vehicle, the suspect struck another vehicle and then fled the scene of that crash.”

The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK. There were no injuries in the crash.

Police quickly identified the suspect as 53-year-old John G. Watkins and arrested him around 8 a.m.
