NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The South Carolina Ports' new leader delivered his first 'State of the Port' address to elected leaders, stakeholders, and port customers.
SC Ports is the eighth largest container port in the nation, and a leader in the Southeast region. The president and CEO spoke at one of his first major engagements, giving the annual report. Micah Mallace, president and CEO of the South Carolina Ports, discussed the economic success over the past year, challenges the port has faced, and the path for the future.
He led off his remarks, stating port customers invested $786 million and created nearly 1,200 jobs in the region in the state. Mallace added third-party logistics providers and carriers deploying more capacity in Charleston have contributed to the ports' growth
