A Birmingham dad accused of murder said "we would all be dead" if the victim had not been shot with a submachine gun, a court heard.

Dante Kalsi, 28, denies murder and perverting the course of justice after Gavin Parry was gunned down at an industrial estate in Winson Green back in 2021.

His co-accused Remell Bailey, 28, from Handsworth , is also on trial at Birmingham Crown Court and denies the same charges.

On the day of the shooting, Mr Parry had turned up to the unit - owned by the Bailey family - and became involved in a confrontation with three others, jurors heard.

Mr Parry had driven off and within half an hour, had returned to the unit in a bullet-proof vest and balaclava, armed with a STEN machine gun, the court heard.
