NEWTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Newtown police are asking for the public's help searching for a vehicle after a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Thursday evening.

The collision occurred on Hawleyville Road adjacent to the Exit 9 off-ramp around 6:15 p.m., police said.

Any witnesses who may have seen a commercial vehicle parked on the side of the road in front of Papa Al's shopping center during this time should contact the Newtown police at (203) 426-5841.

The public is asked to avoid the area until the investigation is complete.

The roadway is closed until further notice.
