LOUISVILLE, Ky. — About 200 people gathered by candlelight outside the Teamsters Local 89 union hall in south Louisville on Wednesday night, coming together to remember the victims of the fiery UPS airplane crash that had shaken the community on both sides of the river.
The vigil drew local leaders, union members, and residents from Kentucky and Indiana, coming together to grieve, support one another, and remember those lost.
For Jeffersonville resident Melinda Atman, whose brother works for UPS, the night was deeply personal.
“After knowing he was safe, then my own emotions just grabbed hold, it was absolutely devastating,” Atman said.
UPS workers made up much of the crowd, standing side by side to honor those who were killed or injured in the crash.
