FLORENCE, S.C. —

The search is on in South Carolina for two suspects after an employee at a business was assaulted and shot during a robbery.

The Florence Police Department said about 9:30 p.m. Thursday two men went into Oakland Grocery on Oakland Avenue.

Police said one of them jumped over the counter, showed a gun, and took money from the register.

They said that same person then took an employee into an office where he assaulted the employee in the head with the gun multiple times. The suspect then shot the employee in the leg.

Both suspects then left.

The victim was taken to the hospital for care.

Police are asking for video footage in the area to try to identify the suspects.
