NEW TAZEWELL, Tenn. (WATE) — The wife of a missing Claiborne County man last seen in 2017 has been charged with theft over allegations that she fraudulently claimed his Social Security benefits for more than four years.
Cindy Shaboo, 63, was indicted on a charge of theft over $10,000 and arrested on Thursday. Her husband, 65-year-old Joseph John Williams, was last seen in April 2017 and reported missing after his adult children repeatedly attempted to contact him.
Shaboo said at the time that he left town for work and failed to take his phone. A sheriff's office captain told 6 News in May 2017 they were told Williams had left with a man he had met on Craiglist to do a plumbing job.
